Hello! No, I have not fallen over the edge of a cliff (not that there are any cliffs in Holland anyways...) or been sent to jail or eaten by a wild boar...
Things have been little busy lately, and also a bit emotional. Val heard 10 days ago that her Grandpa was doing unwell. Yesterday he died, and she is now on the plane back to Canada. It all happened so fast. Yesterday a few of our Dutch friends dropped by for a final goodbye. We had just dropped into bed last night when Val had the idea to do one more bike ride along the canal (at 1:30 am), so we lugged our bodies onto bikes and spent the next hour freezing our fingers, chatting, and I must say even crying a little bit :)
It is wonderful to love and to be loved, while at the same time experiencing a different culture and broadening our horizons. Leaving with a long hug and a 'See you in heaven!' is really quite difficult though. I have moved around a fair bit already, and always it is so hard to leave such wonderful people. Yet it always seems to be God's way of saying that, although circumstances change, He is always, always right here. It is easy to say the words 'God is enough' but is He really the biggest infulence that fills me? These little things in life are a good reminder of that.
The Maclean's are also gone to America for the next few months, which means I have a big empty house all to myself! The walls of this house seriously echo however when no one is around, so hopefully I can keep busy.
On a more positive note, I made Sloppy Joes yesterday! There was no ketchup, so I used curry ketchup instead with a bit of chilly powder... it was SOO delicious! And perhaps also a contributor to the extra 6 pounds we have gained in the last week... oops
So there is a bit about what has been going on lately!I hope you all are having a wonderful week,
Kim
That's really too bad Kim, that you are now in that empty house all by yourself when you had anticipated sharing this time with Valerie! But yes, circumstances can change just like that. We hope you will still enjoy your last weeks in Holland. Hang on to the peace and surety of knowing that God is faithful and always, always there.....
