WW2 from a German bunker

Good morning once again!
I was thinking it would be another week until I would have something to post, but I couldn't quite resist posting some pics from yesterday. I went to the German bunkers, that acted as a defence from the sea against an English invasion. This impressive display of about 15 concrete bunkers, with I'm sure many underground passages, was for the most part closed off.
A room, the only one with an electric light that we could see. Most of the walls had small indents for candles.

The walls were all over 1 meter thick. This is not a good pic to show their thickness, but the roof and every wall were solid concrete barriers, guarding weapons and men. They were pretty much impenetrable to bombs, especially as all the corners were not at a 90 degree angle.

A hole for a canon. The canon would point upward in case of an air attack

Thick bolts for the door.

ammunition I found on the forest floor.

A piece of a truck?
We figured this was a weapon storage room.

  1. Whoa so much history! We can't even begin to understand all the atrocities and emotions these guys went through. Very neat pictures though!
